How to Apply Your Decals

Every order ships ready to apply. Most decals go on in minutes with a squeegee (or an old gift card) and ten minutes of patience.

Step 1 — Prep the surface

Clean the surface with isopropyl alcohol or mild soap and water, then dry it completely. Dust, grease, and cleaning residue are the top causes of peeling. Apply between 50–90°F — adhesive won't bond well on cold surfaces.

Step 2 — Position before you commit

Tape the decal in place with painter's tape and step back to check alignment. For larger decals, run a strip of tape across the top edge as a hinge so you can flip the decal up, peel the backing, and lower it into place.

Step 3 — Squeegee from the center out

Peel the backing paper away gradually while pressing the decal down with firm, overlapping squeegee strokes from the center toward the edges. Work slowly — pressure now prevents bubbles later.

Step 4 — Remove the transfer tape

If your decal came with transfer tape on top (die-cut and lettering orders), wait a minute, then peel the tape back against itself at a sharp angle — not straight up. If the decal lifts, squeegee that spot again and retry.

Bubbles?

Small bubbles usually disappear on their own within a few days. For stubborn ones, press them toward the nearest edge, or pierce with a pin and press flat.

Surface-specific tips

  • Walls: wait 2–3 weeks after fresh paint. Wall fabric repositions; take your time.
  • Windows: apply to the smooth glass side. Perforated film goes on the outside face.
  • Floors: sealed, smooth floors only. Press hard along all edges — edges take the foot traffic.
  • Vehicles: wash and fully dry the panel first; avoid washing for 48 hours after application.
