Material guidance

Running a commercial truck? USDOT regulations require your company name and DOT number lettered on both doors — order two matching door decals and you are covered. Decals ship ready to apply; you or your installer applies them.

Ship-only: customer or their installer applies.

Artwork requirements

PDF, EPS, AI, PNG, or JPG up to 50 MB. Vector files print sharpest at large sizes; raster files should be 150 DPI at final print size. Full specs on the artwork guidelines page. Not sure your file works? Upload it anyway — we check every file before proofing, and design help is $45.00 flat if it needs cleanup.

Your work truck is a billboard you already own

A lettered truck earns impressions at every red light, job site, and parking spot — for the one-time cost of two door decals. Vehicle-grade gloss vinyl handles weather, highway grit, and brush washes for five years; perforated film covers rear windows without blocking the mirror view; reflective vinyl keeps the truck visible after dark. Everything ships ready to apply with instructions, or hand our files to any local installer.

USDOT lettering, done right the first time

FMCSA requires commercial vehicles to display the company name and USDOT number on both doors, legible from 50 feet. That means clean 2″+ lettering, not a vistaprint magnet flapping on a door panel. Order two matching door decals — most fit our 12″ × 24″ preset — note your legal name and number, and your proof shows the exact layout before anything is cut.

Measuring your vehicle for decals

Measure the flat area between body lines, door handles, and trim — decals want flat or gently curved surfaces. Standard pickup doors take a 12″ × 24″ block comfortably; box-truck sides swallow 24″ × 48″ and larger; rear windows get measured edge-to-edge for perforated film. Photograph the panel, note the measurements, and if anything looks compound-curved, send the photo through the quote form before ordering.

One truck or a fleet

A single work truck needs two door decals and maybe a rear window — order it straight from this page. Fleets need consistency: identical layout, colors, and placement across vehicles bought years apart. We keep fleet layout files on record so truck #14 matches truck #2, and fleet reorders skip straight to proof. Start the program through the quote form with your vehicle list.

Vehicle Decals — common questions

Will decals survive car washes and weather?

Yes — the vinyl is rated for 5 years outdoors and handles brush washes. Avoid pressure-washing directly at decal edges, and wait 48 hours after application before any wash.

What size do USDOT door letters need to be?

FMCSA requires the marking be legible from 50 feet in daylight — in practice, 2″ letters clear that comfortably. Our 12″ × 24″ preset fits a standard name + USDOT number block on most pickup and box-truck doors.

Can I apply vehicle decals myself?

Door lettering and flat-panel decals, yes — clean the panel, use the taped-hinge method from our application instructions, and take your time. Full wraps and compound-curve panels are installer territory; any local shop can work with our files.

Do decals damage vehicle paint?

On factory paint in good condition, no — vinyl removes with heat without pulling clear coat. Repainted or damaged panels are riskier; removable vinyl is the cautious choice on those.

Do I need to remove decals before selling the vehicle?

Most buyers expect it. Heat the decal with a heat gun or hair dryer, peel at a low angle, and clean residue with citrus remover. On factory paint the panel underneath comes out fine — often brighter than the sun-faded paint around it.

Can you do a full vehicle wrap?

We print decals and lettering — partial coverage, doors, windows, and trailer sides. Full wraps are an install-heavy product we don't ship; for wrap-scale coverage on flat panels, request a quote and we will spec panels your installer can work with.
